4Linux welcomes Microsoft for a discussion on open standards with internet users - including Jon 'Maddog' Hall

The ongoing debate between Microsoft and the open source community will be live broadcasted by BotecoNet, a podcast produced by 4Linux Brazil. Roberto Prado, Microsoft Strategy Manager, will answer questions from web viewers about Microsoft's initiatives in open standards.

It will be live broadcasted this coming Thursday, August 2nd, at GMT 14:00. Although the program will be in Portuguese, at the end some questions in English will be done and aswered. Moreover, an English version will be available for download at www.4linux.com.br/boteconet.

The last edition of the program brought the debate forward by inviting Jomar Silva, from the ODF Alliance in Brazil, and University of Brasília professor Pedro Rezende to explain the advantages of the open standard defined by the community. "Microsoft Brazil kindly accepted our invitation. The company will receive the same amount of time as ODFAlliance Brazil," said Marcelo Marques, 4Linux Marketing and Strategy Director. In this program, Microsoft will present the advantages of adopting its OOXML standard.

The internet users can participate sending questions by e-mail (boteco@4linux.com.br), that will be live delivered to Microsoft's representative. Some English questions were already done by people as Eben Moglen - professor of Columbia Law School, Evan Leibovith - former president of Linux Professional Institute (LPI) - and Jon "Maddog" Hall - Linux International president.
