Kubuntu Feisty Fawn Based ; Improved Wireless Support

Cedaredge, CO, May 24, 2007: Technalign, Inc. has released Pioneer Basic Release 2.1 of it's base Linux Operating System. Pioneer Basic Release 2.1 is being released on DVD. Technalign will continue to ship Pioneer Basic Release 2.0 for those users who do not wish to purchase a DVD drive for their systems. Pioneer Basic R2.1 is similar to Basic R2.0 with several exceptions. The biggest exception is that Pioneer Release 2.1 is based on Feisty and not Edgy while it continues to be based on Kubuntu. Adept is nolonger incorporated as the update manager, but is now replaced with Synaptic per the business and consumer communities. Also notable are the Guarddog Firewall as well as the KlamAV anti-virus utilities that have been added and OpenOffice 2.2.

"We are listening to our user and business community," claims Technalign CEO Dianne Ursini. "Pioneer Basic Release 2.1 incorporates the functions and features that our communities have requested."

Pioneer Basic Release 2.1 represents the most user-friendly version Technalign has released since its beginnings in 2002. Users can now make the transition from Windows easily and be up and running in no time. Those consumer users who have little or no experience running Linux can visit one of over 1,400 Technalign Partners who will perform a Windows to Pioneer conversion as well as walk-throughs and training. This version of Pioneer Basic is now the perfect fit for SOHO to the large enterprise.

The Pioneer Knowledge Base will provide the method of upgrading to Pioneer Basic 2.1 and it is recommended that users perform the upgrade or move to Release 2.1. The upgrade would also require Automatix to be changed as well.

Technalign plans to start the change on all it's releases including Pioneer Stagecoach and Pioneer MigrationSERVER. Pioneer Rifleman will continue development under the new 2.1 release.

Pioneer can be downloaded from the Pioneer download pages. Technalign's Pioneer Linux products are free to Consumers and Nonprofit organizations. Commercial and those requiring support from a Partner, or Technalign directly must purchase a boxed set.

Those running Pioneer Linux Releases 1.0 and 2.0 can upgrade. A Knowledge Base article provides the methods for the upgrade.
