LPI promotes Linux Certification within North-East Asia Region

Linux certification organization, is hosting certification events and "exam labs" within the North East Asia region (China, Japan, South Korea) to promote Linux and Open Source professionalism. These include upcoming certification testing events at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo - Tokyo, Japan May 31 - June 2, 2006 and LinuxWorld Conference & Expo - Seoul, Korea June 5 - 7, 2006. LPI has also recently sponsored a successful exam lab at LinuxWorld Shanghai, China on May 24, 2006.
Jim Lacey, President and CEO of LPI, noted the growing importance of Japan, Korea, and China (JKC) as part of the organization's new global strategy: "North East Asia or JKC best demonstrates our Regional Enablement Initiative: draw upon the stability of long time affiliates like LPI-Japan, search out innovative new partners, and explore opportunities for growth."
Gen Narui, Board member of LPI and President of LPI-Japan also noted the benefit LPI provided to LinuxWorld events throughout the region as Linux Certification sponsor: "LPI is highly recognized within the region as a standard of IT professionalism. As sponsor of these events we enable test candidates to take LPI exams at a discounted rate, attend our information sessions, or to ask questions of our staff at the exhibit booth to learn more about Linux certification."
LPI-Japan will be hosting a number of testing events at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo - Tokyo, Japan. Exam labs will be held in room 5F No.3 Business Negotiations Room, West Exhibit 4 Hall, of the Big Sight Convention Centre, Koto-ku, Tokyo, Japan from May 31 - June 2, 2006 at the following times: 10:30-12:00 p.m., 12:30-14:00 and 14:30-16:00 p.m.
All LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 exams will be offered at a cost of 14,175 yen (includes 5% consumption tax). This is a 10% discount over regular exam prices. All exam candidates who take the exams will also receive a free LPIC Penguin.
Exam candidates must pre-register on the LPI website at https://www.lpi.org/jp/register.html to receive a LPI identification number and must bring valid photo identification and their LPI ID number to the exam events. LPI-Japan will also host an exhibit information booth at #121, West Exhibit 4 Hall, at the Tokyo Big Sight Convention Centre, Japan. All those interested in obtaining more information on LPI certification are invited to attend the booth and ask questions of LPI-Japan representatives. Alternatively, LPI-Japan is also hosting two speaking events at the LinuxWorld conference theatre program: "Present Status and Future Trends of LPI", 13:00-13:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2006 (Speaker: Gen Narui, President, LPI-Japan and member of the Board of Directors of LPI); "Linux and Open Source Qualifications", Thursday, June 1, 2006, 11:15 -12:00 (Panel discussion with Toshiji Tanaka, LPI-Japan and other representatives from PostgreSQL CE, Zend PHP Certification and others).
LPI will also host its first exam labs in Korea at LinuxWorld Korea at the COEX Conference and Exhibition centre in Seoul, Korea from June 5 - 7, 2006.
The LPIC 101 exam will be offered at LinuxWorld Korea for a discounted fee of $75 US (a $150 US value). The exam labs will be held in COEX room #205 at the following times:
Monday (June 5): 11:30~13:00 and 15:10~16:40
Tuesday(June 6): 11:30~13:00 and 15:00~16:30
Wednesday(June 7): 11:30~13:00 and 16:00~17:30
Exam candidates must pre-register on the LPI website at https://www.lpi.org/en/register.html to receive a LPI identification number and must bring valid photo identification and their LPI ID number to the exam events.
