NoMachine, the creator of the
innovative NX terminal server and remote access solution, has
announced the release of NX 1.4.0. Rome, Italy, November 4th, 2004 - NoMachine, the creator of the
innovative NX terminal server and remote access solution, has
announced the release of NX 1.4.0. The new release sports exciting
new features that make NX the most advanced tool in the Linux world
enabling corporations and professionals to get secure access to their
server based applications over the Internet.
Persistence of sessions, new in this release, allows users to
suspend their work and connect to the same session from anywhere in the
world, at any time. Uninterruptible operation has been the most requested
feature since the NX inception and it is now built into the product for
the thousands of users who have faithfully followed the NX technology trail.
The new server also adds support for printing on local printers
attached to the client. This will allow for a greater level of flexibility in
allowing seamless access to remote applications as if they were run from the local
computer.
Sarah Dryell, NoMachine's Business Development Manager, stated: "The
implementation of these functionalities will help to consolidate NoMachine's
position as the most innovative provider of terminal services and remote access for the
Linux platform. The team has all worked hard these past few months to offer
current and future NX customers a product which is more
secure, more manageable and functional. This will allow them to maximize
performance and use of their NX Server set-ups."
NX security has gone through a complete redesign, with
stricter policies added on the NX subsystem and improved manageability of tunneling
and encryption through SSH. Dryell added, "after a rethink on how to improve
on what we currently offer to our customers with mission-critical
environments and mobile employees, we realized that it was necessary to offer
authentication, access control and server-to-client encryption through tighter use of the nx
keys. Customers can now rest assured that deployment of their applications over
the NX network is even more secure than before."
In addition to these numerous implementations, which have seen the NoMachine
team emerge as an outstanding alternative to other remote access and application
deployment solutions available on the market, version 1.4.0 extends
platform support even further. By including RedHat Enterprise Linux, Solaris
8/10, Mandrake 10.1 and SuSE 9.1 editions NoMachine expands its current list of
supported distributions even further, thus embracing the global range of its
customers. NX continues to live up to its motto of being able to "run any application on
any OS over any network."
This release is accompanied by a total revamp to the NoMachine's Support
Center. Users can now browse more efficiently the vast range of information relating
to NX via the newly-implemented NX Knowledge Base. Searching for trouble reports,
fixes, documentation, hints and howtos can now be done from one location and thus
greatly facilitates the whole process of pinpointing the answers to specific
questions. Furthermore, NX Customers will be able to keep track of their own support
requests in real time via the new system, thus creating a more personalized aspect.
Sarah Dryell adds: "A total redesign was necessary in order to facilitate
the location of important and useful information for our customers. By using the
newly-adopted Knowledge Base, the task of requesting support, searching for solutions,
bug-fixes and other material is now centralized here and NoMachine's customers, as
well as new visitors, should be pleased with the results."
