Federal Interior Ministry patronages the Business and Government Conference at LinuxTag 2004

During this year's LinuxTag, again the business and government conference is hold on June 24, 2004 from 9am to 6pm. The program is divided into three parallel tracks.

BERLIN, KARLSRUHE. June 1st, 2004. "Over 20 speakers present the most recent trends and usage potentials of Free Software in business and public administration. Additional speakers will present successful migrations of single companies and public offices. As an example the Deutschen Bahn AG will present their strategic GNU/Linux concept. International speakers in addition will talk about the use and handling of Free Software and Open Source in different European countries" explained Boris Lingl, coordinator of the business- and government conference. This conference stands again under patronage of the Federal Interior Ministry (Bundesministerium des Inneren). The presentations target especially deciders and IT administrators in both business and public administration.

Free Software Press Agency founded.

Together with the Free Software Foundation Europe and the KDE project, LinuxTag e.V. founded the Free Software Press Agency in Berlin. "The goal of the FSPA is to provide journalists and PR professionals with up to date and thorough background information about the Free Software universe. The continuous placement of news about the participating projects is a milestone to find your way in this rapidly developing and innovative GNU/Linux field", explained Andreas Gebhard, who is spokesman LinuxTag e.V. and head of the Free Software Press Agency.

Tutorials at LinuxTag.

For the first time during this year's LinuxTag, tutorials are offered. While the business and government conference offers an overview on the broad specter Free Software offers, the tutorial participants can get a deep insight into single projects and topics. Professional users can increase their knowledge of Free Software during the various tutorials that will be lead by renowned experts.

LinuxTag is Europe's largest fair and congress around Linux and Free Software. It takes place at the Fair- and Congress Center in Karlsruhe from June 23rd to June 26th, 2004.
