Linux in Education Spring Conference
Mar 25th, 18:49 UTC
Discovering Free Software for Our Schools
The world of Linux has grown into a vast body of software supported by a
large community of companies and independent developers. The fact is, Linux
can now perform many computing tasks and do them well. Despite this incredible
progress since its inception less than twelve years ago, many people are
still unaware of the power it offers in solving the problems most organizations
have with their information technology. Nowhere is this more true that in the public school
system. The time has come to offer an understandable overview of Linux and
how it can be applied in public education.
The mission of the Linux in Education
Conference (LiEC) is to introduce Linux to an audience of educators,
students, administrators, IT managers and other interested parties who may
have no previous knowledge of Linux nor even any technical understanding
of computing. The presenters will offer something for everyone and will carefully
explain the basics while showing some incredible technology. The conference
runs for one full day, Saturday, April 5 at the Grand Prairie High School
9th Grade Center, Grand
Prairie, Texas. It is filled with demonstrations, presentations, and
discussions that will open your eyes to new possibilities.
Free Registration:
All participants who pre-register will get free CD to take back with them.
With this CD, they can run Linux without ever installing it. A great way
to try what you have seen at the conference. Please come and join us for
an exciting day of learning and fun. Conference capacity is limited so please
register as soon as possible.
