Squished Mosquito and New Horizons Team to Offer Linux+ Certification Program

New Horizons, Inc. (NH), the largest worldwide independent IT training company, has partnered with Squished Mosquito, Inc. (SMI), in Pensacola, Florida, to provide world-class Linux+ certification training in the New Horizons Pensacola office. Ed Carp, SMI's Director of Software Development and one of the original Linux kernel developers, has assumed additional teaching responsibilities for the classes.

PENSACOLA, FLORIDA - New Horizons, Inc. (NH), the largest worldwide independent IT training company, has partnered with Squished Mosquito, Inc. (SMI), in Pensacola, Florida, to provide world-class Linux+ certification training in the New Horizons Pensacola office. Ed Carp, SMI's Director of Software Development, has assumed additional teaching responsibilities for the classes. Tim Garrett, Training Manager for New Horizons, said, "We feel very fortunate in being able to retain Ed's services in this critical and growing area of our core business. Interest in Linux is growing at an unprecedented rate, and we are pleased to be able to capitalize on Ed's extensive Linux experience to more easily assist professionals in obtaining their Linux+ certification."

About Ed Carp

Ed Carp has over 22 years experience in the IT industry, beginning his career at Datapoint Corporation in 1979. He has written well over 100,000 lines of code in his career, has contributed significantly to the Linux operating system since its beginning in 1991, and to the Open Source movement in general. Recognized by Linux Journal as one of the `Founding Fathers of Linux', Ed has led the development of the Escapade scripting engine since 1999. He has worked with such noted companies as IBM, Sun, and Apple. He is also a published poet, ham radio operator, and former police officer and SWAT team member, and has recently assisted the FBI and Secret Service in several cases related to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. He volunteers his spare time to various charitable organizations, including animal rescue organizations, and has advised on several animal cruelty cases in Texas.
