Tcl Community Now has Free Access to the Premier Tcl Development Tool
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Nov. 22, 2000 -- Interwoven (Nasdaq:IWOV), the leading
provider of enterprise-class content management solutions announced today that it has made TclPro,
the premier development tool for the Tcl language, open source. It will be available for download at
http://dev.scriptics.com/software/tclpro/.
"The Tcl community will benefit greatly from the public availability of TclPro because it will give
access to a broader base of developers and ultimately increase the number of people using Tcl," said
Dr. John Ousterhout, the inventor of the Tcl language and now chief scientist at Interwoven. "It will
also mean that the Tcl community will be able to contribute to the future development of TclPro,
making it an even better tool suite."
Enterprise customers using Tcl Pro software will now be able to get support from the open source
community. For customers of Tcl-based application providers such as Cadence, Synopsys and
Vignette, they will now have access to TclPro for free.
"One of the reasons that open source software is a credible alternative is the public-spirited
willingness of companies such as Interwoven. I hope more and more companies consider acting with
such enlightened self-interest," said Mark Harrison, senior engineer at Asiainfo Holdings, Inc.
