Third round of capital funding from Soros Private Equity Partners, TA Associates, and WR Hambrecht + Co provides foundation for rapid growth

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Feb. 17, 2000) - Atipa Corporation (d.b.a. Atipa Linux Solutions) announced today that it is receiving more than $30 million in new capital funding from an investment group led by investment affiliates of Soros Private Equity Partners LLC, TA Associates, and WR Hambrecht + Co. Atipa's third round of financing comes on the heels of several strategic steps the company has taken recently toward its goal of being a leading full-service provider of Linux solutions.

At the recent LinuxWorld Expo in New York, Atipa announced its acquisition of Enhanced Software Technologies (EST). In January, Atipa announced that Marc Torres, previously President of SuSE, Inc., had joined Atipa as Chief Technology Officer to lead Atipa's research and development initiatives. In addition, Kansas City-based Atipa announced that it was opening sales offices in New York, San Francisco, and Austin.

"Atipa Linux Solutions is moving aggressively on several fronts to position itself as a leading player in the expanding Linux marketplace," said Jason Talley, CEO of Atipa Corporation. "This latest round of funding will enable us to leverage significant capital resources in strategic initiatives that are key to becoming a premier Linux enabler."

"Atipa possesses one of the most comprehensive business models in the Linux space. Their recent acquisition of EST and the hiring of Marc Torres to the management team demonstrate Atipa's commitment to R&D and to providing a complete Linux solution to customers. This additional funding will bolster Atipa's already rapid growth," said Laurent Meynier of WR Hambrecht + Co. Talley and his team of Linux professionals are working toward their goal of becoming the leading full-service provider of Linux software, services, and solutions.

Ken Schiciano, Managing Director of TA Associates said, "TA is excited to be an investor in Atipa. We expect to work with the company to build the management team, complete additional acquisitions, and help position the company as a leader in the Linux market and contributor to the Linux community."
