Multiseatcomputer.be, developer of multi-user computers announced the release of opensource multiseat systems with linux up to 14 users.
The multiseat systems can be delivered with custom furniture, mobile or fixed.

Multiseatcomputer.be, developer of multi-user computers announced the release of opensource multiseat systems with linux up to 14 users. The multiseat systems can be delivered with custom furniture, mobile or fixed. A mobile Multiseat is the best solution for schools and education sector. Separate computer classroom or area is no longer necessary: the mobile multiseat computer can be moved to each room or class.
Two configurations are available:
- - in rectangle the users sitting across each other
- - in line: all users sitting on one line
Additional advantage is that the screens, keyboards, mices and the computer are attached to the mobile multiseat frame, so it's more difficult to steal the parts.
The free software of the multiseatcomputer can be configured the way the school wants it:
- -direct connection upon login to a shared folder on a windows or linux server.
- -complete reset of the desktop configurations, surf history and downloaded items upon logout.
- -additional education software for schools.
- -two way sound for each user
- -private usb disk data copy
For librairies there are also some specific configurations available:

The multiseatcomputer runs on the latest 64bit version of ubuntu or debian and is configured so that the user is unable to do tasks that require administrator rights.They even cannot change the desktop settings or configurations of the soundcard.
All the software is opensource , so there are no software costs.
Ecological savings are very important: for example the 12 users multiseat computer uses only 390 watts.
Economical savings are tops: only one computer and the additional usb keyboards and mices , that's all.
The linux kernel is famous about the memory allocation to the software and the users. There is almost no performance lost on multi-user tasks.
The multiseatcomputer is manufactured with common simple hardware:normal two output nvidia video-cards, common cpu's as intel's dual or quad core or amd's dual/quadcores.
