Hussey-Mayfield Public Library Goes Live With Evergreen

Hussey-Mayfield Public Library in Zionsville, Indiana has gone live with Evergreen, the consortial-quality open-source library automation software. This is the first step in a process that will see seventeen Indiana public libraries migrate to Evergreen by the end of 2008 as part of Indiana Evergreen, a shared-catalog project administered by the Indiana State Library. Equinox Software, Inc., the support and development company for Evergreen, provided bumper-to-bumper support during the Hussey-Mayfield migration.

Hussey-Mayfield Public Library in Zionsville, Indiana has gone live with Evergreen, the consortial-quality open-source library automation software. This is the first step in a process that will see seventeen Indiana public libraries migrate to Evergreen by the end of 2008 as part of Indiana Evergreen, a shared-catalog project administered by the Indiana State Library. Equinox Software, Inc., the support and development company for Evergreen, provided bumper-to-bumper support during the Hussey-Mayfield migration.
The entire migration--from initial data mapping to going live--took less than a month. New, "first-for-Evergreen" features appearing in this installation include account notifications ("pre-overdue notices") and a simplified Web-based self-check. (Evergreen has supported SIP2 self-check since its first release.)
"Hussey-Mayfield Public Library is working our way toward a full open source library in all aspects, and this is one more step on that direction," said Rick Deuschle, Associate Director of Information Technology and Facilities. "Evergreen is built with the right tools, has strong scalability, and can be used in consortial settings. It's software created by libraries, for libraries."

Hussey-Mayfield Public Library--a heavily-used library, with nearly 25 circulations per capita--is in Zionsville, Indiana, just northwest of Indianapolis.
