Jaspersoft ships iReport plug-in, the NetBeans community's most popular download, and new upgrade of 'Jasper for MySQL'

SAN FRANCISCO -- August 13, 2008 -- Jaspersoft Corporation, the market leader in open source business intelligence (BI), today announced the full-production availability of Jaspersoft's iReport for NetBeans Integrated Development Environment (IDE), which has been certified for NetBeans 6.0 and 6.1, and also supports the new beta version 6.5 announced today. In addition, Jaspersoft announced that Jasper for MySQLTM, the MySQL OEM edition of the Jaspersoft Business Intelligence Suite, has been upgraded to version 3 (v3). Together these optimized solutions deliver the most advanced business intelligence development platform for Sun's leading open source products.

iReport is the graphical report and dashboard design tool for JasperReports, the world's most popular open source reporting product and the Duke's Choice Award winner at last year's JavaOne conference. iReport has been available in Beta since December as a native NetBeans plug-in, during which time it rapidly became the most downloaded plug-in by this community of 600,000 developers from more than 130 countries. iReport developers deploy their reports with JasperServer, which includes a secure repository, dashboards, scheduling, and ad hoc reporting. iReport and JasperServer are included in Jasper for MySQL.

Jasper For MySQL is the optimized version of the Jaspersoft Business Intelligence Suite that Sun's database group has licensed for its OEM business. The new Jasper for MySQL v3 incorporates all of the new features and functions in Jaspersoft v3, which was announced earlier this summer (http://www.jaspersoft.com/nw_press_jaspersoft_jbis_v3.html) and is specifically certified and packaged for Sun's MySQLdatabase.

"With iReport, JasperSoft delivers a superior open source business intelligence solution, which compliments NetBeans core strengths in enabling web and desktop applications," said Jim Parkinson, vice president of developer tools and services. "We're pleased at the value that JasperSoft finds as a NetBeans Strategic Partner and we're excited about the innovations they bring to the community."

"NetBeans provides the vehicle through which much of the Java community collaborates in creating web-tier applications," said Jose Morales, vice president of business development, Jaspersoft. "Our relationships with NetBeans and MySQL are natural given the reporting requirements of these communities, our mutual strategy for serving web-tier application development, and the maturity of the Jaspersoft suite."

As Sun is a strategic partner, Jaspersoft also supports Sun's portfolio of other software products and platforms, beyond NetBeans, Java, and MySQL, including: Solaris and OpenSolaris 64-bit operating systems, GlassFish application server, CAPS and OpenESB middleware, and the Sun Identity Management application. Jaspersoft also partners with Sun's data warehouse partners including MySQL data storage engine providers Kickfire and InfoBright, as well as Paraccel and GreenPlum.

iReport is generally available through the NetBeans Plugin Portal and via the recently updated Jasperforge.org.
