GUIdancer version 2.2 released
  Jul 25th, 21:52 UTC

Bredex GmbH has announced the latest release of their GUI test tool, GUIdancer. The software is immediately available for download on the GUIdancer website. New features of this release include an option to retry failed test steps, compatibility with the Eclipse 3.4 Ganymede release and the ability to start applications under test easily from executable files. Alongside these features, there have been numerous improvements to the usability of the program. The addition of welcome pages, cheat sheets and new example projects will help new GUIdancer users. The automatic inclusion of the Test Case library in all projects will benefit all GUIdancer testers, allowing reusable keywords to be created quickly using drag and drop.

Functional GUI testing can be challenging. Ensuring the proximity of testing to development releases, whilst contending with changes to requirements and to the interface is a complex task. GUIdancer is the keyword-driven test tool for Java (Swing, SWT/RCP) and HTML, which supports organizations in overcoming these challenges to attain better software tests, and, ultimately, better software.

Version 2.2 of GUIdancer retains all of the benefits of previous releases - tests are easy to create and maintain, no programming skills are required, and test creation is separate from the application under test. The new version also has added features to make working with GUIdancer even easier. User interface improvements mean that tasks like object mapping, and the maintenance or modification of large and complex tests have become simpler and smoother. The options available to GUIdancer testers also now include the use of pre-defined test execution variables in tests.

"As well as adding these new features, we've done a lot of work on the usability of GUIdancer, especially in the initial stages," said Zeb Ford-Reitz, a developer in the GUIdancer team. "There is plenty of information available to GUIdancer testers - example projects to run, tutorials to work through, and examples of best practices in the welcome pages. Most importantly, we now automatically add our library of Test Cases to every new project. Within minutes, testers can create robust, reusable keywords using just drag and drop."

GUIdancer is a powerful tool, designed for the complex task of test automation. To ensure quality and return of investment, a good test structure is required. GUIdancer supports good test design at many levels. The combination of early test creation and reliable regression testing means that GUIdancer tests can monitor and improve the quality of a product throughout its lifecycle, without draining resources, time and money.

Floating licenses and online consulting packages as well as demo licenses and extended demo licenses and are available in the GUIdancer shop.
